As the Initiative for Hydrogen in Eastern Germany e.V. (IWO), we bring together the strengths of the six eastern German federal states.
Our goal: to unlock existing opportunities and potential and establish Eastern Germany as a key region for the hydrogen economy.
Our members — Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia — have diverse strengths and expertise that complement one another. Each state contributes valuable know-how from different areas of the hydrogen economy. On this shared foundation, we develop coordinated approaches to position eastern Germany as a leading hub for the hydrogen economy and to secure long-term value creation in the regions.
